چکیده
MYERS, R. F., AND BALASUBRAMANIAN, M. 1973. Nutrient media for plant parasitic nematodes. V. Amino acid nutrition of Aphelenchoides rutgersi. Exflerimental Parasitology .34, 123-131. Nutrition of axenically cultured A. rutgersi was investigated by deletion and addition of various levels of essential amino acids. Reproduction was lacking when isoleucine, leucine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, histidine, tryptophan, and lysine were individually deleted from M-10. Normal reproduction was observed over a range of concentrations but declined to nothing at still higher concentrations of tryptophan and histidine. On the basis of these tests and analyses of both the nematode and host tissue, M-12 was devised and testedl. The amino acid group of M-12 contained 7 fewer amino acids and concentrations of another 15 amino acids were adjusted; but no significant differences in reproduction occurred. INDEX DESCRIFTORS : Aphelenchoides rutgersi; Amino acids ; Axenic ; Metabolism ; Nutrition ; Nematoda.

Molecular Characterization and Functions of Fatty Acid and Retinoid Binding Protein Gene (Ab-far-1) in Aphelenchoides besseyi
Rice white tip nematode, Aphelenchoides besseyi, is a kind of plant parasitic nematodes that cause serious losses in rice and many other crops. Fatty acid and retinoid binding protein (FAR) is a specific protein in nematodes and is related to development, reproduction, infection to the host, and disruption of plant defense reactions, so the inhibition of FAR function is the potential approach t...

متن کاملAn updated list of the plants associated with plant-parasitic Aphelenchoides (Nematoda: Aphelenchoididae) and its implications for plant-parasitism within this genus.
Few Aphelenchoides spp. are facultative plant-parasites (foliar and bulb nematodes); three of them are well known in agricultural systems, namely Aphelenchoides besseyi, A. fragariae and A. ritzemabosi. Ten other plant-parasitic species, A. arachidis, A. bicaudatus, A. blastophthorus, A. dalianensis, A. ensete, A. nechaleos, A. paranechaleos, A. saprophilus, A. sphaerocephalus and A. subtenuis,...

A survey was conducted to determine the assemblage and abundance of plant-parasitic nematodes and their associations with soil factors in organically farmed fields in Minnesota. A total of 31 soil samples were collected from southeast (SE), 26 samples from southwest (SW), 28 from west-central (WC), and 23 from northwest (NW) Minnesota. The assemblage and abundance of plant-parasitic nematodes v...
متن کاملOccurrence of Plant Parasitic Nematodes and Factors That Enhance Population Build-up in Cereal-based Cropping Systems in Uganda
Plant parasitic nematodes remain a major challenge to crop production that has hitherto received minmum research attention in sub-Saharan Africa. This paper gives the diversity of nematode genera and species associated with cereal crops and indicates the possibility of nemadode population build up due to production intensification especially in soils with high sand content. Twenty-two nematode ...
